I used to live in America and moved back once Trump announced he was running for office. Best decision of my life. America is a joke.
I wanna retire to Olten.
I am one of those Swiss citizens living abroad. I live roughly 15 Km away from the Swiss border. But hey, it still counts though.
I feel like I have encountered a good chunk of the 11% in Asia in girlie bars in Thailand.
Do they get AHV if they never lived and/or worked here?
Thanks for posting this. I am myself a Swiss born abroad, in Latin America. We are called the ” fifth Switzerland” , we have our own Swiss Abroad Congress who represents our interests thru the OSA and liaises on our behalf with the Swiss government.
We were also recently added our own very page on the new Swiss passport design.
We might represent a small minority in foreign countries but have made sizeable contributions to our hosts’ societies abroad.
I wish our brothers born in the motherland were more aware of this or perhaps educated in school on this matter. After all, we nave a larger population than that of all the Italian speaking Swiss and nearly twice the population of Zurich. Yet people know so little about us , you get the most weird looks when you explain you are a Swiss abroad , especially if you don’t speak one of the national languages, people are immensely suspicious and surprised. Yet here we are. Anyway thanks for sharing this. Shout out to all the other Swiss born abroad!
Edit: Spelling.
If you’re also a Swiss who grew in multiple countries resulting in not having any firm roots anywhere say ayyyoooo
I am one of them!
How many others are in Texas? Surely not just me? Can’t wait to move back though
