I currently have a contract (fixed) with Mega. This expires 02/22. The new offer, they’ve sent me is not interesting (at all). Typically I participate in a group buy and I switch every year. However this year, the group buy didn’t receive participants (because of our current energy crisis). Another group buy I registered for, only comes up with an offering after 03/22 (assuming they receive participants).

So, I’d like to select a new vendor myself. I did a V-test on [vreg.be](https://vreg.be). The difference between the cheapest variable contract (Luminus) and the cheapest fixed contract (Ecopower) is > 10%, which is a significant difference. (Fwiw, the new variable offer from Mega was > 27% more expensive then the cheapest variable offer (from Luminus like mentionned before).

Before I go for the variable contract with Luminus, anything I might have missed? I’ll check the March offer from the group buy, so it might be for only a couple of months .. but 27% is too much money to throw out of the window.

Some context:

* family of 4
* electricity-only
* 1 EV
* heat pump
* no solar panels

  1. I have done recently the same comparison for switching from Mega to another provider: the results showed approx. the same difference (+25% for Mega compared to the cheapest alternative). Mega has become much more expensive than their competitors, that looks bad for them…

  2. Luminus has a 25 euro yearly cost which you need to pay even if don’t stay. That might be important if you’re going to maybe switch to a group buy. Though I see similar costs with a few others. Ecopower is the exception but you need to buy a share from them to gain entry, and at 250 euro that’s a lot.
