Storm Arwen: Thousands still without power six days after storm

  1. Can’t imagine the trauma of living without electricity for 6 days.

My boiler wouldn’t work, so no heating, my fridge and freezer wouldn’t work so all my food would be spoiled, and worst of all, no internet!

  2. Mine was off for five nights and I’ve never been more grateful for a hot shower. I notice there were aid stations and community initiatives in the villages but lots of really rural folk had no idea those were available because the phone masts all got damaged too. We just fended for ourselves – I hope the ones left unconnected aren’t still on their own.

The really scary thing was watching a nearby farm catch fire during the storm and knowing there was sweet FA I could do about it. I’m glad somebody still had a working phone and fire engines turned up eventually. Kept a fire extinguisher next to my candles after that…

  3. Six days is a long time with no power, mine was off Tuesday morning I got dressed for work using my mobiles torch but was stressing all day as my house is all electric.
