Russia slams removal of Soviet sculptures in Vilnius

  2. ~95% of Soviet statues glorify the army, political figures or local collaboraters. None of those are reasonable objects to put in places of honor after a multi-generational occupation and independance struggle. Their removal is necessary. Some statues and art of the Soviet era can, do and should remain standing as they glorify a subject not related to occupation. In cases those are removed I’d also object, but they are a tiny minority of cases in relation to the larger removal of occupation art.
