It’s interesting how much death practices vary across even just Western Europe. The old stereotype about protestants is that they try to hide death, that its a fact but an inconvenient one, and that memorialization focuses on accomplishments life but not the reality of death. Simplistic description for sure, but there is something to it.
it’s similar to the capuchin crypt in Santa Maria della Concezione dei Cappuccini (Rome).
Kind of weird to die and end up as part of a decorative thing.
