  1. Disclaimer: The original OP deleted the first post because they didn’t get the reaction they wanted.

The amount of people that love to protest over all the wrong things. What do they think this will achieve? Do they think they’ll tear up the runway that took for-fucking-ever to build?

Don’t buy a house near an airport if you don’t want to hear planes. They should have realistically saw them building a new runway coming with population growth etc. Pointless temper tantrum for the sake of it.

  2. What a bunch of casuals. I live right next to a runway and personally love the rumble of jets taking off. Really gets me going.

  3. DAA are scum. I remember the CEO was nowhere to be seen when the minister for culture was throwing hands in Terminal 2 and the queues were rampant but once the new runway that they can’t afford was built he had his ugly mug on RTE news to pat himself on the back for how amazing it was.

  4. For all the people saying it’s there own fault for living beside the airport my family have lived here since the 1910s and many others around here are the same the daa are consistently breaking the agreements they have made with fingal cc and nothing is done about it

  5. I live near the airport and it doesn’t bother me when the planes go overhead, gives me a chance to scream really loud about the emptiness of my life

  6. I live in the area, here’s a rundown of what’s happened.

By the time the airport finished the runway and got ready to use it, flight numbers had increased substantially. So DAA got greedy and immediately asked for a planning permission change to allow them to fly more planes, more often, and 24/7. Fingal County Council more or less rolled over and gave them what they wanted, with few concessions.

Residents have since appealed to ABP, so loosening the restrictions are on hold. The people living here simply expect the original planning restrictions (the ones in place when they made the decision to buy houses here) to be followed, or be compensated appropriately. And with the ever increasing need to leave windows open in the summer to beat the heat, no amount of noise mitigation is going to make flights between 11pm and 7am acceptable.

  7. *Decides to live next to major Airport

*Airport builds new runway that has been planned since the 60s

*House near the airport gets a bit noisier

    Shocked Pikachu face

  8. I live a few Km away from an airport and the planes fly directly over my house and close enough you can tell who the plane belongs to.

It’s not a big deal, its a bit noisy when your outside but I can barely hear them when I’m inside.
