To be short, Sunday 4th December I went from France to Netherlands. I have a old diesel car, and obviously cannot go in LEZ.
Because of works, I haven’t been able to use the Kennedy Tunnel (which i usually take to go Netherland without entering Antwerp.)
I wasn’t aware of the works, and therefore haven’t been able to anticipate the trip. I then followed the diversion traffic signs. (the fluo orange ones)
I was extremely confused, there were a lot of traffic and not much time to think. I was not aware of the existence of the temporarily toll-free Liefkenshoek tunnel, and therefore entered Antwerp.
I learnt about it when a friend sent me this :

*”Traffic to the Netherlands will be diverted from the Antwerp-West interchange, via the E34 to the R2 and through the temporarily toll-free Liefkenshoek tunnel.”*
I am sad and angry because I will soon get a 150€ fine. I had already previously gotten one from Ghent a few months, because of a wrong highway exit (and they did not want to hear anything)
I do not speak Dutch (it is had for me to find laws and infos), is there exceptions for entering LEZ du to Kennedy Tunnel closure ?
How can i defend myself?
Thank you

You are expected to be able to read road signs at all times – ALSO when a deviation would lead you from your usual path.
