Need help identifying document from grandfathers belongings from WW2.

  1. I posted this in r/ww2 and they said I should also post it here for help

We found this paper in my grandfathers trunk that my dad acquired. It’s his trunk from when he came to America from Poland after World War 2. He came over in his teens. From what I’ve been told he was in a work camp at some point while in Poland but I’m not exactly sure the time frame or location. The paper appears to have names on the left side with some symbols next to it. We aren’t sure what anything else is. Any help is greatly appreciated. If any more info is needed I’d be happy to try and provide it.

    Thanks in advance!

  2. I believe on the top it says that it’s a list of people buried at a cemetery in Gunzburg.
The table shows name, date of birth and date of death.

If I’m incorrect however, someone please correct me

  3. apparently this is a list of people buried in the cemetery in Günzburg, nothing more.

  4. List of polish people burried on the cementary in Günzburg.
The list specifies first & last name plus date of birth & date of death. One person was listed as unknown.

  5. Korzanka Maja, born 6.1.1945, died 16.3.1945. ✞

Half of them seem to be newborns. Rough.

On the right in pencil seems like corrections to the names. On the bottom “Verschrift” is german for “Written (copy)” I think.

    From some googling:

“Neuoffingen Camp was technically in the jurisdiction of the town of Gundelfingen an der Donau, in the Günzburg district of the German state of Bavaria”

So there was at least one labor camp in the area.

My guess this is somebody copying info from cemetery/city/district archives. Something like that. Esp. with no official stamps or other identification.

Just a wild guess though, could be anything including part of some official documentation.

If my guess is correct and the original archives still exist then it’s probably not that valuable as the info on it is already known. (It’s still an 80 year old handwritten piece of paper which is already kinda great). If those archives or parts of them are missing then this would be invaluable to the families.

  6. Oh my God.

Number 15 – name unknown, 4 years old

Numbers 24 and 25 – seem to be twin girls, both died the same day they were born

    So heartbreaking
