Important part of the article is the officer who did this was later found to be fairly objectively racist and dismissed, so yes the met should have issued an apology and it’s good to remunerate these victims.
>The first few months of lockdown saw the Met stop and search more than a quarter of all black 15- to 24-year-olds in London, with 80% found to have nothing on them.
Shocking. Or, you know, not actually shocking because its the Met.
I had a civil claim settled by the police.
Stop and searched under pretence of burglary hotspot (2 miles from nearest building) car searched, drug tested, alcohol tested, handcuffed, forcefully pushed into a police car for “your own protection”, it was raining and they didn’t want to stand in the rain.
Everything came back negative, “your lucky, next time be more compliant”.
My biggest issue was there were 4 officers, 1 a sergent, even asked the Sgt if he was happy with this? “Nothing to do with me, listen to the officer”.
Not to mention through all of it the officer was aggressive as fuck, kept stepping forward into my personal space. I take a step back, he steps forward until I’m pushed against my car.
I was guilty until they found something to prove I was guilty. “I’m going to search your car till I find something”
I thought the Guardian was getting into dialect, but they were actual related brothers.
