West Dorset women visited by police after raising concerns over sewage pollution with local MP – LymeOnline

  1. This is very dodgy. The second time it seems that Chris Loder MP has misused the local police.

Previously there were issues with protected eagles being killed and it seemed he leaned on the police not to investigate.

  2. >But I can confirm I have not requested the police to visit anyone.

Insert Ron Burgundy “I don’t believe you” gif. Because how else would the police have known about the whole thing?

  3. Ok, but someone made an apparently innocent request to meet an MP then killed him, so it may be some new policy. The thing to do would be attend the meeting anyway

  4. >The police officer said they had received an email from Mr Loder’s office and that she had been directed to find out Ms Swan’s intentions in wishing to attend the meeting.

Fantastic use of resources. The office staff can pick up the phone themselves.

  5. This is a MP that published a letter in the telegraph that accused the National Trust of being “coloured by cultural Marxist dogma, colloquially known as the ‘woke agenda'”.

All because they let visitors know about the slavery linked past of the estates and building they were visiting.

  6. So police now commonly don’t attend crimes such as burglaries or robbery. But they magically have resources for this. Shocking

So it’s NOT a crime to dump sewage in a river. NOT a crime to under invest in the sewage system whilst posting millions of pounds profits & paying out dividends to shareholders

BUT It’s a crime to pressure yr local MP to take action against the above

    Figure that out

  7. People will.keep voting Tory, even though the evidence mounts up daily they are corrupt and antidemocratic risks to British society.

  8. I’m really starting to wonder what the point of MPs is. They always vote on party lines and have no real impact on local politics or policies unless it’s in their parties best interests in which case they all vote for it because that’s what they’ve been told. And in some cases they abuse their position of influence like this guy.

Without serious reforms, why don’t we just ditch the scroungers and have our elected representatives form from those in local councils who do have a direct relationship with voters and may not vote along party lines due to a very real possibility of losing their spot.

  9. Oh the party of wannabe fascists are just letting their MPs run around and be wannabe fascists.

Dont worry I’m sure tory idiots well be along to claim this is totally fine behaviour and nothing at all a wannabe fascist would do.

  10. So when will we actually do something, i think we need a full reset on how this country is run! I pay so much tax every month on my pay for what? what do we get in return? if i was investing in this government i would have pulled my money years ago! Why are we forced to put up with this, we deserve better!

  11. The Tories claim to be the defenders of “free speech” when they demand that no one is allowed to call racist people racist.

But they will send the police to your home to intimidate you into silence if you ask them any difficult questions.

How the hell are they still polling at over 20%? How is there anyone left who thinks that these guys deserve a sniff of power?

  12. Surely for police to attend, it has to be a matter of an invistigation into a crime, attending a crime or assisting with matters of public safety or giving a talk on a subject or providing assistance to a member of the public.I suppose that having highly overpolluted watercourses is a matter of public safety, but in the context given, it does not appear to be the apparent reason for the attending a constituents property, a person who is trying to look after and raise issue with points that are of immediate detriment to the community and local environment on our heritage coastline.

As reported, the attendance of an officer of the law in this instance, unless pursuing any of the points above, unless there is something I have missed, is both highly irregular and seemingly, given the reported communications, a misuse of public resources at best. At worst it may be a gross overreach of public office and as such is worthy of further reporting and action.

  13. A local government worker using cops to silence or intimidate a citizen with a legitimate concern? Wtf is this? Russia?

  14. Absolute fucking weasel:

    > I have to let [the police] know of anything out of the ordinary. In this case, it is unusual to receive the interest of two people who were not invited to attend a localised surgery.

    > I can confirm I have not requested the police to visit anyone.

No, you didn’t literally say “I request you visit these people”, you just gave them these people’s details and said they were “unusual”, knowing full well the police would pay them a visit.

Tory MPs, taking Johnson’s lead and continuing to erode democracy…

  15. I live in Bournemouth and we can’t get police officers to come out to actual crimes. This is utterly ridiculous and I hope the residents boot him out. We’ve got a load of corrupt and dodgy MPs and councillors here too 😒

  16. He is an arrogant twat who can’t abide criticism. He’s my MP and has blocked me on Twitter for calling him out on voting to pump shit into the sea.

  17. I do know that MPs do use the laws that protect them from harm will use it even for something not threatening because they can, not referring to this MP by the way.

  18. Well, you know what you have to do don’t you. Plaster pictures and evidence on posters and leaflets all around the area and old people’s homes and schools and colleges and council estates with his gave next to the mess and vote the Tory scum out.

  19. What fucking country is this, I really don’t recognise it anymore.
Maybe it’s always been like this and I’m slowly noticing.

  20. I once had the police visit me after I posted some very critical comments on the Facebook page of a local politician. This is extremely unusual here in the Netherlands. I asked the officer if I committed a crime and he said no, I just want to talk to you about what you posted on Facebook. I told him to fuck off and stop violating my human rights, which are protected by the EU human rights charter, and slammed the door in his face.

  21. Quite literal “Cancel Culture” from the Tories here. As per usual

    >Then on the evening of Thursday, November 24 – the night before the public meeting – both women received house calls from a Lyme Regis police constable after dark, with the officer reportedly saying they had received an email from Mr Loder’s office and had been directed to find out their intentions in wishing to attend the public meeting.

The police aren’t your personal assistants….

Tories are the ones that will bang on about “free speech” “democracy” and “you have to debate us”

And yet when you do any of those, you’re suddenly not invited to an open event and barred from speaking.

Funnily enough I had the exact same where I was thrown out of a right-wing “Free Speech Conference”
