  1. Caught provably lying should trigger instant dismissal.

Until something like that happens or 95% of the people are replaced ill never trust any of the political class to be doing anything else other than securing themselves corporate speaking gigs for life.

Its a shortcut to that, nothing more.

  2. The Guardian appealing for trust in anyone is one of the blackest forms of hypocrisy i’ve seen in years.

  3. A great way to lose votes though, which is why they would never try it. It would mean having to admit that they are in it for themselves and running the country in a way that actively harms the average person.

  4. Until we hold politicians and our government accountable for their actions and empty promises, nothing will change. Tories continue to get away with bleeding the country dry and selling as much off as they can to foreign countries or their mates businesses.

  5. He’s spot on. The only thing that always undermines this sort of argument though is; well, why don’t you become a politician? See how easy it is to be trust worthy when you have to get more votes than the guy who’s prepared to lie.

Democracy is the least worst option, but it’s still shit. (Paraphrasing Churchill)

  6. Unfortunately trust isn’t something you can win back overnight, which is what the cosnervetives want for their election in 2 years time.
