London cycling: One percent of bike thieves identified, Met data shows

  1. My husband’s bike was stolen in SE, area covered with CCTV. He went down the police station to report it, they asked him what he did for a living (normal job, we’re not rich) and then said to him “I’m sure you can afford another one”.

Bike theft is insane in London. They walk around stealing various parts from different bikes to build new ones which can never be identified. Like there’s a full on bike theft job sector.

Police couldn’t give less of a shit.

  2. Yet they spend resources arresting people for hurting peoples feelings on Twitter, what a joke!

  3. Maybe its only 1%, but its 100% better than their record prosecuting for PPE fraud through the tory donor VIP lane

  4. I remember a few friends of mine had their bikes stolen while we are uni (not in London though). It happened outside the university library, a high traffic area with CCTV monitoring it), the police refused t investigate it when they reported them stolen because they considered it a lower priority. I know it is not murder but it still a crime and there was some pretty good evidence to help their investigations out. You’d think the police might like an easy win to help with their statistics too.
