> **De Sutter**: Many of Bpost’s customers want or expect the company to act in a sustainable way. And by focusing on that, Bpost creates a competitive advantage for itself. As far as I know, no one in the sector goes as far as Bpost. This also gives the company an example. In Mechelen, in a model that is also being rolled out elsewhere, parcels are only delivered in a CO2 neutral way via a network of vending machines, among other things. Inhabitants never have to go further than 500 meters to pick up their parcel when it suits them’.

Besides, if you are not at home, you have to go elsewhere to pick it up. The vending machine seems to me then to be a much more responsible concept. Ideally, you would arrive at a model where the various courier companies use that vending machine. Those who want the parcel at home would then have to pay an additional fee.’

I think working with pick up points instead of home delivery is a great idea to not only save costs for Bpost, but also to fix the whole “I was home and they didn’t even ring my doorbell!!!” issue that people keep complaining about.
Personally, I haven’t had a package delivered to my house in 5 years. I just choose a nearby pick up station
I already done this and always pickup my packages at a local point. Best thing I did in a while. Package always on time and not mysteriously disappearing, not waiting for the mailman that doesn’t ring the bell anyway.
real nice if you have a car to go pick up your stuff from the pick up point. I order my stuff delivered in bulk because it’s cheap/free & I *don’t* have a car. Those pick up machines aren’t really that CO neutral if delivery trucks drive to them & then all consumers drive their cars to the pick up points.
No no no, they got it the wrong way around. Picking up your package at a pick-up point should be cheaper since they are saving on labour and gas. But yea, give bpost even more of an incentive to be a shitty overpriced half-government company. Gotta strangle citizens for everything they have.
Can postnl just buy up this shite company already and kill it.
‘Waarom gebruikt niemand de post nog :'(‘
Eigenlijk is dit al zo, als je als particulier een pak verstuurd naar een postpunt is het goedkoper dan naar een adres.
Grote webshops hebben natuurlijk grote contracten maar de klant zal nooit weten als het duurder is om naar zijn adres te leveren ipv een postpunt want verzending is toch bijna altijd gratis.
As a person with a disability, I really need my packages to be delivered at my door.
Why are you mingling in the free market?
Yeah, maybe i should deliver it at the shop….
What’s up with Groen actively trying to piss off voters
Weer zo’n out of touch kutidee dat ons allemaal weer geld gaat kosten. Treut.
I personally prefer delivering my parcels at the local post office/pickup point, but that’s mostly due to me living alone and thus regularly at work during delivery hours. But instead of raising prices for delivering at home, shouldn’t we do something about next-day shipping? I’d say that’d be the number 1 cause of all the extra traffic.
Ah, the reinvention of shops.
Or maybe we could aggregate all packages in a village in one place, the Package Office and then have someone deliver it on foot/electic bike/moped the next day! /s
Yes because its better for the environment as everyone seperatly goes to and from the post office instead of having central distribution points and delivery.
