Well the government website said a PCR within 36 hours of arrival or 10 days of quarantine were also acceptable so it isn’t surprising.
Considering you can get a PCR test in Ireland, valid for 72 hours, fly away for a weekend and then come back into Ireland on the strength of your pre-trip PCR test, irrespective of any foreign exposure to variants, the whole process is an expensive security theatre sham. The worst part of it is that it undermines the validity of the vaccine passes, removing a key incentive to get a booster this winter.

we came back from spain on tuesday, nobody checked anything, no covid cert, no antigen test. They don’t give a shit
