The problem with these “protests”
Is that the vast majority of people ALREADY AGREE with them!
Damaging artwork, throwing paint, blocking roads etc is not highlighting some unknown cause, the UK is already banning petrol/diesel cars in 7 years, a HUGE step towards net zero and it’s going to be very disruptive for the average motorist who can’t afford to drop £50k on a new car.
People are just trying to get by in the face of crippling inflation right now, some posh kid lecturing them about their carbon emissions isn’t winning anyone over
Sorry but how is a painting made hundreds of years ago related to CC and how does it deserve to be destroyed.
Their message is good, what they are attacking is dumb and they actually need to wake up and go for the oil and fuel places…

Just Stop Oil are managing to turn a mainstream opinion into an extremist position.
They’re fighting the battle of the 80s and 90s. Climate has “awareness” now, it gets constant media coverage and is part of every government decision (even when it’s the gov being criticised for doing the wrong thing).
It’s boring, steady technical work and specific campaigning that’s going to make a difference now and this lot are harming those efforts.
Try convince countries like China , even if the UK stopped all emissions entirely it would be a fart in the wind in comparison to global output.

JSO need to understand that the majority of people are not prepared to accept the required decline in our standard of living that is required for us to become environmentally sustainable as a species.

Note: I am all for green energy, but with the current situation it’s not a sprint process, it’s going to take time and we’ll get there. We can’t get rid of fossil fuel in the near future, but eventually we’ll. But these idiots doing these protest is not going to solve anything.

Has no one here been to an art gallery? Nearly every painting is behind a substantial layer of protective glass – JSO have hardly done anything disruptive here, they know they *cant* physically damage the paintings with their protests, the whole point is to provoke discussion.
The moaning but no solution brigade want more people to hate them.
We are reducing oil dependency. We just can’t do it overnight.
It’s as bad as extinction rebellion moaning about insulating homes whilst my energy supplier is in my house fitting loft and cavity wall insulation for free via a government scheme.
Lost track of the amount of these people and their supporters defending these protests with some argument about how they have no interest in damaging the art, it’s safely behind glass and it’s just about getting media attention for their cause. Liars as well as idiots. Nothing but wannabe terrorists with out of control egos. I mean, a 24 year old protester calling themselves a “climate scientist” because they speak for this group? Really? How pretentious can you get?
