Let me walk you through to Finland from the eyes of a Pakistani. A cold, very cold country where the people rumoured to be just as cold and distant are somehow the warmest people you have ever met. Some exchange smiles with you as both of you just missed some snow slipping off a roof. While some gleefully saying “moi moi” as you step into a K-market to buy something that you don’t know the name of in a Finnish. This country somehow has figured out the pace of life. You don’t feel the overwhelming weight of the pace of life of London in the streets of Tampere nor do you feel lostness of the streets of Paris on the footpaths of Helsinki. Weirdly, you feel at home.
I have had Finnish friends for almost a decade and have even been to Finland a few times now and I genuinely can’t get over how I feel in Finland. love how the cities and the people of Finland are not pretentious at all. You don’t feel like you’re in a facade nor do you feel like you’re in a play. You get what you see and that is life how it’s meant to be lived.
Sincerely Yours,
A Pakistani who loves Finland

I miss Tampere. This photo is beautiful, thank you.
Great picture – I need to get back to Tampere soon. Glad you’re loving it, it’s a special place and everything you’ve said is spot-on.

This hits me a lot. I’ve lived a part of my life abroad and this is something I always miss and truly appreciate. Just being able to tell your friends “naah, don’t feel like doing that today” without excuses is something I always treasure.
Thank you for this wholesome post. Have a nice weekend 🙂
