So this is the democracy they propose, don’t agree with us?
Damn we’ll just torture you into agreement.
The Dutch parliament can suck deez nuts
Well, seems logic. EU has spend billions supporting Ukraine. Inflation in EU is record high. Serbia is helping Russia to circumvent EU sanctions that does not make any sense. Serbia should be treated as a second Belarus if it does not want to align with EU policies.
As a Croatian I don’t fully agree with this decision.
I think it will do more harm for everyday Serb than it will help us, the EU, to deal with Serbia.
First step should be taking away EU candidate status as they aren’t aligned with external EU policy.
That makes sense and is an appropriate measure without impact on everyday lives.
“Democratic” eu at it again
This article is not really correct. A motion was accepted that essentially calls for consequences for the accession process of EU candidate states that do not sufficiently align their foreign policy with that of the EU.
There was also a second motion that calls for a temporary suspension of the visa-free travel regime with Serbia as a result of both their foreign policy but also the visa free travel arrangements that Serbia has with third countries (that could thus potentially travel to the EU through Serbia). A VOTE ON THIS MOTION EVENTUALLY DID NOT TAKE PLACE.
To the people in the comments saying the EU is not democratic:This has nothing to do with democracy. If Serbia doesn’t want to align with the EU they don’t have to but they will not get the benefits of being an EU ally and the EU will not MAKE Serbia be their ally. Unlike Russia which basically forces you to be their ally even If you don’t want to because they have nothing to offer you in exchange.
