This is one of the few genuinely controversial opinions presented as such on Reddit. Bravo, you immoral bastard
Last time I saw one, I considered the fact that they were released by some humans having brought them over from England. It’s not the grey squirrel’s fault for doing as they do, that’s the animal kingdom for you.
They’re only here because of human interference and stupidity. I’ve stopped hating them. I was high at the time too 😛 but my point still stands!
Fucking rats with bushy tails.
Red ones are cuter though.
Unleash the Pine Martins, Ireland’s last line of defence against the Greys
Or a Mink enthusiast.
Little fuckers!
I only dislike the grey ones because the red ones are way better and more emblematic of Ireland. Grey ones are an invasive species and will never shake off that stigma here!
To clarify this is mostly a joke, I prefer red squirrels of course but I still enjoy seeing any type of squirrel including grey
Crazy how many species were invited into Ireland basically because rich people in the 19th century thought they look good. Sika Deer, Grey Squirrels, Hogweed, Rhodedendrons. They hadn’t much concern for how it would impact the ecosystem.
I wonder if thats because they are an invasive species wiping out native species
