Why did no other finance ministers put their names in the hat? Surely being able to guide European financial policy discussions is attractive for any government.

Am I imagining things or with the boom in our finances from corporation tax are we at risk from getting attention from other EU countries on it and is this re-appointment helpful in keeping things quiet?

Surely this speaks more about the civil servants in Dept of Finance who briefwrite speechesguide how to position policy? Yes Paschal has to be likeable but I’d say it is a good combination of himself and Dept of Finance?
