Well thanks Irish Rail, nobody lives any further out than Maynooth, Greystone, Dundalk or Parkwest. Thanks a bunch.
This is pathetic. There are a total of TWO extra Dart trains, and the last one is at 1.30am!
Why can’t we have a train every 15 or 20 minutes until 3am, then one every half hour? And not just on Fridays and Saturdays at Christmas, but every night.
It’s just a question negotiating with the drivers, isn’t it? I bet if they offered the drivers quadruple time they would have no difficulty in getting drivers. But they won’t – why?
Meanwhile they expect us to be grateful for this?!
There be some riding on those trains.
Seeing this I might actually leave my comfort zone and head into town for the first night in years.
I know it won’t suit everyone, but not everybody wants to be out till 3am, and for a lot of people this will be the difference between heading out and staying home.
A lot of people live in the area’s supplied, that, like me, either live too far away for taxis, or whose night is predominately shadowed over by the prospect of a ride on the fite-link.
I don’t feel safe on Malahide Dart after 9pm but good I have the option to ride it until midnight 😀
I’ve been on the 15 bus at 5 am and I’ve been the only person on the bus… it is not feasible to run a train all night with no people on it. The demand it not there… if you want regular, all night service, you will have to pay increased fares/added wages for security etc.. it would be a lot more money.
I took one of those late trains few days ago and it was packed. Great to see ! There is definitely demand for this
