I thought we were going to get a breakthrough last year (or 2 years ago?) with that new footage and unknown person.
Shame nothing to help really came from it.
I still think of him and his family.
I hope they get closure some day
He was on the unsolved mystery sub a few weeks ago. They did a great write up as usual.
It’s so confusing how he just disappeared with cctv and all.
I’ve been thinking for years what could have happened to him. Could he have been murdered and dumped in the canal ?
And why was that man standing outside a bank at 4 in the morning for half an hour ?
My Dad always said he reckoned he found something he shouldn’t have and told someone who said “ah sure we’ll sort that out” and they did sort it out, but poor Trevor trusted the wrong people and I still remember him telling me Mam that he’s gone and they’ll probably never find him.
You always think how can someone vanish like that. Just gone! So sad for the family, like it’s 99% likely he’s been dead all this time, but to not know what happened to him must be a death by a thousand cuts each and every day. How could your mind think of anything else? I know I’d never be able to do much of anything ever again if that was one my family members.
This case gives me absolute chills.
The CCTV freaks me out.
I think about this case all the time, I remember seeing the posters up around Ballsbridge over the years and I’m a local to the area he went missing.
I personally think he was enticed or forced into a car. Looking at the CCTV that was released most recently, it looks like the reflection of a car passing in one of the puddles after Trevor walks off camera. If he fell into the canal and drowned there’d surely have been some trace of him or his umbrella etc over the 22 years.
I really thought that we’d have a breakthrough when the gardaí dug up a site in Chapelizod a few years ago (I believe on a tip off).
So, so sad that 22 years on it’s still a total mystery.
I worked with Trevor as work experience when I was in transition year, was over the summer before he disappeared. Still feels surreal that he just disappeared.
I recall a homeless person was found many years later as trees grew over the body and were cut back years after. I often wondered if Trevor took a short cut over a wall and fell through a place where nobody would see him during the many searches.
Taxis were on strike the night he disappeared, perhaps someone who was targeting lads that night picked him up for a “spin home”
We’ll never know – it’s all speculation
I’d love for his family to find peace and closure
Im sure his loved ones are living a waking nightmare each day.
This case gives me the chills every year I read it and puts tears in me eyes looking at footage, like scared shitless tears. I too read the excellent write up and discussion on another sub a few weeks ago but unfortunately nobody is any the wiser. Two things that stick out for me are: 1) I really don’t believe it was a case of he said the wrong thing to the wrong person. I mean if you do have the misfortune to do that I think you’re gonna get a few slaps outside the nightclub at worst, I don’t see anyone going to the hassle of a pro disappearance like this. 2) I think the detail of him having the coffee in the office is not given the weight it possibly deserves. I just don’t see why after a night out, with work in the morning you’d spend 15/20 mins or whatever it was in the office, that’s valuable kipping and recovery time. That for me says he was scared of the man at the gate and was hoping he’d fuck off while he was inside. But at the same time it wasn’t just scared as in theres a random weirdo outside, or else you’d probably mention it to your mate in work. Maybe there was something else going on and he had reason to be scared of that lad, but at the same time he couldn’t share it with his colleague. Like I said, that’s just some random thoughts I have on it but at the end of the day no one knows. Unfortunately we never will. So terribly and unimaginably sad for the family.
Still haunted by this. Never knew Trevor but we were the same age and I was out in a different part of town that same night. It was a fairly innocent and safe period in Dublin. I never had any hassle or felt unsafe no matter where I went or whomever I was with. This and the killing of Brian Murphy just a few months before outside Anabel’s were really shocking.
This thread from r/UnresolvedMysteries was posted a few months ago which exhaustively goes through the circumstances of his disappearance. Can’t imagine what it must be like for his family. I went to secondary school in the city centre and I can still remember at the time the city being plastered with posters asking if people had seen him.
It’s desperately sad, he was so young. I really hope there’s some kind of break in this case soon.
Poor lad. It must be so hard on the family to not know, either way…
walking home along Haddington Rd to me makes no sense, back in 2000 it was a completely different road with empty run down houses. I used to work in the Hibernian building on the road and remember it well.
he basically walked away from a Spar on baggot/Pembroke St. which was/is a well know place to get taxi’s. no suggesting he was looking for a taxi as at that stage probably decided to walk home. there is also the Lansdowne Hotel further down and then Jurys
if he was worried about be followed or just generally nervous about walking home you would never chose to go down Haddington Rd.
I’ve often thought about it, especially coming back from Ireland games when I pass the spot he was last seen. I hope his family get closure one day.

Wish we knew what happened to the poor guy.
