Any idea who is responsible for repairing tarmac around drains in an estate ?
The tarmac is braking away/eroding around the drain outside the path in front of my house.
.

Estate has not been taken over by the Council
Am I responsible ? Can I just use something like this ?[https://mccarthystramore.ie/product/durapatch-tarmac-repair/](https://mccarthystramore.ie/product/durapatch-tarmac-repair/)
Or do I chance my arm with Meath Co Council ?

  1. Has the developer any more sites to develop in the estate.

Developer of my parents estate was renewing planning for houses that were never built in the estate, so the residents association went with a list of small jobs like this, and the developer came back and fixed a load of them.

  2. If the estate has not been taken over by the council, then there is probably a management company. Are you paying annual management fees (assuming you’re the owner?)

  3. Sound like developer went bust and wasnt complete to a standard for council to take over.. They set up a special fund for councils a few years ago to repair, bring to standard & take over estastes like this, whether its still going i dont know..

Be reluctant to fix it myself.. if anything happend you would be on the hook. there is a reason contractors have insurance.. maybe the best neighbours in the world but families have fallen out over less.

Maybe someone in the estate knows a local civil contractor who would do it..get a price and have a whip round to get it fixed up..

Alos despite the lovely photos.. the potholes really need to be cut square, dug to solid ground, edges painted with pitch sealant and that filler whacked in .. otherwise water gets in under it and it will lift & ravell..
