Mate, Anne Hidalgo is polling under 5% in the presidential election, and falling. She just went on television to beg the other left-wing candidates to accept a “primary of the left” (which she knows may be the only way to keep her party afloat, provided that she gets some of them to withdraw), and they pretty much told her to fuck off.
Draghi is by far the most competent person on this list.

Funny how Ayuso is defined as “The patron saint of bars” and the article claims “[she] evokes Spanish Civil War rethoric” while *conveniently* forgetting:

Number 5 is spot on, Rishi Sunak is a future prime minister for sure
[Politico ranked Anne Hidalgo first in the “Dreamers” category](https://www.politico.eu/list/politico-28-class-of-2022-ranking/anne-hidalgo/).

Yesterday, one of her deputy (she’s currently the mayor of Paris) [was arrested](https://www.lemonde.fr/politique/article/2021/12/09/un-adjoint-d-anne-hidalgo-entendu-par-la-police_6105405_823448.html) as he is suspected of laundering tax fraud. And under her term as mayor, Paris’s debt ballooned to more than 7 billions euros, more than twice what it was 10 years ago.
The indebtedness under her mayorship is so bad, that Paris is currently [the only city in the country](https://www.capital.fr/economie-politique/dette-de-paris-bercy-envoie-un-avertissement-severe-a-anne-hidalgo-1421424) which benefits from a derogatory regime allowing it to get into debt beyond the legal provisions.
What are Politico’s journalists smoking?
Dreamers … Quite a dubious achievement.

To sum up, the piece is biased and focused in minor matters. The writer could have criticized the construction of the Isabel Zendal Hospital (it was expensive), her push for lowering the taxes or other things she has done, even the expansion of metro lines could be criticized! Instead, the writer highligts her past job as community manager, some out-of-context phrases, and links her to Trump because she said “Communism or liberty” during the last campaign (she was running against Podemos, an agglomerate party that contains [among other left parties] [the Spanish Communisty Party](https://www.elcomercio.es/politica/superada-apuesta-integracion-20201009005908-ntvo.html). Does Politico belong to Axel-Springer-Verlag now? Thought I’ve read something like this a few weeks ago.
