I am weirdly disappointed. Thought England played bravely and deserved to win. The Brazilian referee was against them too (maybe related to Michael Oliver yesterday)
I don’t know how the French pulled that one out of the fire. They looked dead on their feet for much of the second half and England just seemed fitter.
Bellingham looked dangerous anytime he got the ball, England created a lot more chances in general, and Lloris got them out of jail a good few times.
Even leaving aside Kane’s missed penalty, they really left that one behind them. They’ll be kicking themselves because turning over Morocco in the semi-final would have been very doable.
It could be a good while before they get an easier route to the final…
Canny wait for the inevitable post tomorrow saying how sad it is that we revelled in England’s misfortune.
