Quarter of 17-19-year-olds have probable mental disorder – study

  1. Covid for the last couple of years, little hope for them in the way of affording housing etc and they’ll probably struggle to afford a decent existence.

I’m surprised anti-depressants aren’t in the tap water by now.

  2. Mental health is something we should all take seriously. We also need to teach everyone how to cope and find means to deal with these issues.

Took me years to come to terms with and handle my severe depression/anxiety. I consider myself a lucky person to have found a means to understand my body and mind better.

Now on the flip side of this. As someone who is a lot on YouTube and twitch and this exposed to a breadth of individuals I have noticed one thing. So many kids are desperate to stand out, to seek special so these kids make up “triggers” or latch onto disorders that they don’t even suffer. Maybe I am getting this all wrong, maybe my view is entirely incorrect.

    Someone enlighten me

  3. Covid

    Social media

    Climate anxiety

    Cost of living

    Uni prices

    Housing prices

I dont really see how its possible to not have depression or anxiety tbh, seems the default of our sedentary, processed food, no natural light, lives.

I also know being vege and vegan is huge among the young but I worry how many are malnourished because of it. Note im not saying you cant be perfectly health vege or vegan but you need to make sure you are covering more things, especially if you are allergic to nuts or coeliac for eg.

Considering as a baseline brjts are deficient in a few things, just swapping to vegan and hoping for the best is likely doing some harm tbh.

Im sure that wont be strawmanned.

  4. Genuinely surprised it isn’t higher. Having worked in mental health support in sixth forms I could easily see this figure being a lot worse.

  5. Well when we are given few job offers, offers for jobs with shit pay and conditions, the fragile charred corpse of what is meant to be a health service, absolutely fuck all chance to own a home and those of us who are disabled are at constant threat of having our benefits taken or labelled as scroungers, not to mention the bigotry that many people sweep under the rug such as racism or transphobia and of course the expensive piece of paper from some up its own arse university that we have no hope of ever repaying and yet still needed to sweep the floors at asda according to the job requirement ensuring we will be in debt for our entire lives

What did you think was going to happen
