> Taxpayer-backed satellite operator OneWeb has announced this afternoon that it plans to spend $3bn (£2.2bn) to move manufacturing from the US to the UK.
Wait, why is a company funded by British taxpayers starting operations *in the US* to begin with?
This appears to be for the *next* generation of OneWeb satellites, assuming the company doesn’t go bankrupt again competing against StarLink which has several baked-in advantages (first-mover advantage, launch cost, constellation size, latency, etc).
A white elephant. OneWeb vs Starlink is like Bristol Brabazon vs Boeing 707.

Fantastic news for the UK.
Many said this would never happen.
