I work at Citizens Advice, this isn’t even the half of it.
Think the worst stories you have heard from friends and family and magnify that by dozens a week per adviser, having to tell people there is nothing we can do on a daily basis because they are already claiming everything already and have already cut back on what would have been essentials now are luxuries, people without beds, washing machines, carpets, even a kettle, yet still not enough to pay for food, this isn’t a cost of living crisis, this is a government culling.
I said to my colleagues when I first heard about “the cost of living crisis” and how energy was going to double, people would die, especially those on pre-payment meters, everyone on the breadline last year and could barely survive then, that’s it they either sink or swim now, I fear some of the people I have seen and tried to help are going to die despite my best efforts.
There is help out there for some, but criteria for other charities is getting narrower and harder to get, you don’t fit the criteria you don’t get help, even if you do they are so inundated with request for help they can’t manage.
We are living in incredibly dark times, and it’s hard to believe that this wasn’t the Britain the Tories wanted all along, i.e. a complete broken system where the majority are fucked, and the golden few reign supreme.
Sounds more like the cost of surviving than living if you ask me.
Remember when Truss was disparaging “Looking at everything through the lens of wealth redistribution”? Remember when she took a sledgehammer to our already precarious economy? Remember when she wanted to give tax cuts to those who already hold more wealth in our economy than in any other comparable one?
The situation our country is in is by *design and ideology*. They tried to double down even when people were suffering. Even now they are doing the absolute bare minimum in an effort to stop societal unrest.
The only Tory policy for “fixing” the economy is crossing their fingers that gas prices will come down. If it does you can bet your last tin of own brand beans they will try again with Trussonomics 2.0.
They do not want to fix this country. They just want people to shut up so they can carry on as normal.

I think [This](https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/business/2022/jul/13/average-uk-household-8800-a-year-worse-off-than-those-in-france-or-germany) article is a really good additional reading to the one posted by OP.
