Most agree that local state-funded media is not healthy for news information, but what about foreign state influences on local self-described “independent” media?

The EU funding is not for the ToM, it’s for a joint venture they’re part of.
If you disagree with results of they fact checking… you can complain/post about it. You can not just claim that the fact that fact checking is going to be part of the business as usual result in loss of independence. Too much stupid lies get published on line… fact checking should become a mandatory part of any social media business… and any social media business which fails to do fact checking should suffer consequences.
Back in a days of paper news, there were a clear distinction between real journalism and yellow press. We need to enforce the same on social media.
ToM shows regular ads from government, authorities and ministries. I guess they earn cash from that stuff. Doesn’t stop them from covering government corruption stories.
ToM and Independent should never be used in the same sentence. I no longer comment on their articles.
Maybe start your own independent news blog, seems like there’s a big market for non fact checked information on this island, you could make some money
