I’m curious why the doctors chose to go with base editing. If the goal was to turn off a gene, regular Cas9 cutting would have been enough. Moreover, orthotropic transplantation isn’t not without risk. I’m also curious why they didn’t use CAR NK instead of using donor T cells for the CAR T. With NK, they could have gotten it directly from the patient.
