Looking at importing this https://www.sbtjapan.com/dealers-cars/honda/vezel/DCT9662/
But I don’t understand what RoR vs container is, and not sure how much the total price will be upon arrival at the port.
Anyone with experience please chime in! Thank you.

A RoRo is a Roll on Roll off vessel so the car isn’t actually put in a container but is driven on and off the vessel. A container ship is obviously one with a container, so your car would be put in a container.
I have no idea how much you would pay on arrival to port, but I do know that there are different road tax rules for cars that are imported, where you will pay a bit more per year according to the year the car was made.

For sure you’re paying VAT 19% plus something like 500 euro tax for port , 100 registration papers, mot 35 . Whatever you will get , the final price will be 25-30% less than if you’ll get the car from here. If you are patient with auction process you can get it even cheaper.
Which part of 25-30% cheaper than if you’ll get FROM HERE , you don’t understand ?
Not experienced personally, but hope you will let me share my opinion based on friends experience. Import from Japan is good idea for up to 3 years old car (I don’t know why up to 3, but guess there are some extra fees for import of older models). For the most popular models such as: Mazda 2, Mazda cx3, Nissan note, Suzuki swift and Suzuki jimny, Toyota aygo- you may save 15% or even more after all taxes and fees. RoRo is really very popular logistic company. To find some contacts for Port you may ask RoRo as well or your friends who are Cypriots. It may speed up the process and help you to have some control over the procedure.
About other models – I know a few cases of import unpopular models, like Toyota harrier , there is very weak demand on 2nd hand market, you will save on import, but to resell the car in a few years is tough, I’m afraid you may lose more.
As well, to buy the car remotely is always a lottery, but I wish you a good luck with your next purchase! 😉
I work at an car exporting company here in Japan and many have mentioned The difference is being put in and container and shipped or just driven on and off the vessel here (RORO). Really depends on the customers to be honest, individual customer usually go for roro while most of the dealer clients they opt for containers since we send various other parts along with the car in the same container.
Also, you can get the car much cheaper from the auction if you give us the details and we bid for you since, at the auction a Honda could be selling for $1000 but if you wait a while you might get the same model Honda for $500 dollars. It just really depends on how many active bidders are there.
Hope that helps! if you need further help. Please reach out since this is what I do all day here
