This is really the litmus test and ultimate challenge of the EU and all its members. To find a solution how to handle the outer borders and distribute the refugees.
This is the hot potato no one dares to solve due to inner political fears.
I see not one country here trying to really find a solution and this is pathetic and speaks volumes of the “common house” of europe
People are becoming very xenophobic. Yesterday I saw a video how Irish people harass Ukrainian refugees and Georgian asylum seekers. They staged protests and filming them to go back home.
What’s the number for Slovenia
These numbers are not really accurate anymore. Austria had over 100.000 requests for Asylum so far this year. This number does not include any Ukrainian citizens.

I’m going to sound like an ass. I am an immigrant from an ex communist country.
This is the process my family went through:
We where interviewed, passed the interview because of skill. 5 country’s offered asylum with a place to work.
My point is, EU needs to stop being a charity house. Take care of yourself before you can take care of others. If you let people into your home make sure they help your country not bring it down. If you close the boarders and make it though to enter, the situation will improve. However let skilled workers in and place them in companies that need the workers.
It’s a tough situation, but strong border control and deportation is the solution. If you stop giving a finger you will save your hand.
Edit: when I say strong border control: don’t put it just on Greece, Spain, France, Italy, Hungary. (Biggest point of entry) it should be all of EUs responsibility combined. Have an EU agency made up of everyone from EU policing the border.
I really want the numbers for 2022. Next year is going to be interesting as well!
One country with only 4? Clearly not Hungary for asylum seekers
Thank you Germany and France, we love you! The rest of you can go jump off a cliff. We will not stand for xenophobia!
I do wonder. How much does turkey have?
My dumb ass brain thought this where applicants to the Asylum, then read the comments and didn’t understand a thing.
In Sweden the debate has been about that Sweden is taking the most immigrants in Europe and that we must stop this and other countries now has to do their part. This data does not make out Sweden to be a bigger receiver then others. Thoughts on that?
My take is that we can keep this immigration up. However, we need to stop striving for integration as the ideal. It doesn’t work. We need to start *assimilating* people, same like Americans did for centuries. Everyone can share their heritage as a fun thing at parties, but that has to not have any actual depth. Keeping all aspects of one’s culture and just upgrading the income by moving to a richer country and making communities which are just exclaves is unacceptable.

this has to stop.
Might explain the growing xenophobia in Austria.
