Can guarantee there will be some who are directly affected by this will still vote Tory.
It was like a few summers ago when the Tories tried to take food away from children, there will still be heaps of parents voting for them at the next GE
You honestly can’t make it up, parents voting for the party that tries to take food from their own children.
‘Tories abandon group’ is sort of the standard headline of the past decade. They’ll abandon anyone if they don’t directly add to their back pockets
Abandoned implies they actually gave a shit about them in the first place.
Surely they are closing because the birth rate is falling?
Keeping them open as fewer children are born each year would be a waste of money if they’re not needed.
What if “children’s centres” were repurposed as state-run care homes? As a policy, it could play well with the Tories’ core vote.
This is all round awful news.
We are already seeing a influx of social deterioration and higher demands on services such as CAMHS.
Children/youth centres are so beneficial to supporting developmental growth 🙁
Tories only ever cared about “Families” as a political talking point to help them get into power and steal the nation’s assets.
If, after what we’ve seen since 1979, any families of non very rich people thought differently until now, then all I can say to them is “took you long enough”
This is BS, clearly it was the last Labour government. 12 years hasn’t been quite long enough to fix it, another 12 might help.

Never. Vote. Conservative.
The Tories could carpet bomb the place and the British public would still vote for them.
I think the cuts to children’s centres are one of the worst things this government has done. I worked for a charity that did outreach in SureStart centres when they were still a thing, and the work they did was incredible. It really felt like they were giving a chance at a good start to everyone. Parenting classes, cookery classes, financial capability classes for the parents, with childcare provided, all of the fun groups for children, trips to the seaside, plus all of the other services that did outreach there, in a welcoming environment.
My friends who are teachers in deprived areas see children starting school who do not know shapes or colours, and they are disadvantaged from day one. It really felt like SureStart was a way of giving everyone a chance.
It’s so dumb, because if all you care about is money then investing in health, services etc is still beneficial.
Ideological horror.
Tories are the party of the elderly in the UK, as clearly shown by voting patterns. And it’s ruining our country.
And yet… Come election time after you’ve had your little Facebook rant you’ll pop that X in the Tory box like the good little idiots that you are.
This country deserves everything it votes for, savour the NHS that will be gone soon and you will vote for that too.
They basically had to be forced to pay for children to eat because of a footballer. Yet they have a magical money tree for the things they want.

Tories don’t care about anyone but themselves…
