I know Bulgaria has lot of internal political problems, but why should these be used as an excuse against us by other countries.

Yeah yeah we are sorry after you threw someone off a bridge
Because the world is not for p*ssies and if you have glaring weaknesses, that you refuse to do anything about for decades, others are free to use them against you. Even if it’s just to show their voters they are against immigration. Also it really doesn’t help us that we can’t get rid of GERB and co, the president rules unchecked and everything is one huge mess right now. But I’m sorry the narrative is about how it’s ONLY about European xhenopobia towards the poor Balkans. Yes,yes quite bad, such victims wow.
Fuck our politics and fuck our politicians. But what happened on the 8th was a humiliation on an international scene. What I find more sad is that so far the Bulgarian attitude has been “We deserve it”. Which in my opinion is not true!!!!!
Where is the fighting spirit?
Don’t the Bulgarian people feel a little bit humiliated or angry?
Romanians have already started boycotting everything Austrian on mass scale?
Why aren’t we retaliating?
Of course I do!
It’s not about deserving, but political play. You can’t win if you can’t play.
Bulgaria’s public opinion is split of course. 1/3 of the people say good we don’t deserve it, 2/3 of people say we deserve it as we’ve met the criteria. That’s not unusual and rarely does the public of any society unite behind an idea.
No point in asking here, this country subreddit is incredibly whiny and the people here will come up with any excuse to insult both the country and the people living here. Even when the majority of EU countries criticise Austria for their decision, the self-loathing Bulgarians on here will go on to defend them. Then they wonder why their favourite parties like DB didn’t win many votes in the last election.
I certainly don’t think we deserve being vetoed by the dutch and austrians. I may be critical toward my country but that doesn’t change the fact that we have met the criteria for joining the Schengen area. The dutch and austrian politicians should not be using their veto power on us just because they can. If they have a problem with the criteria then they should take their complaints to the EU.
Now, why aren’t we as upset as you currently are? There are plenty of reasons. For one thing I don’t believe that Schengen is the be-all and end-all of our economic and geopolitical development. It would certainly be nice if we were accepted into the area but it’s not like we aren’t managing without it. Being rejected since 2012 also has influenced the minds of many bulgarians that being outside of Schengen isn’t fatal. Lastly, there’s the matter of the chaotic political situation here. It’s clear that we’re not at our finest right now. I can’t blame any one group for our current predicament as reality is often more complicated than that. I do think that we’ll eventually get back on our feet though.
most people on this sub are dickriding eu’s meatstick hard
I don’t even know anymore man.
