As a result of Austria’s totally unjustified refusal to accept Romania’s entry into the Schengen area, the National Federation of Trade Unions in the Food Industry – SINDALIMENTA, decided in the National Council meeting, which took place between December 8-10, to close the bank account from BCR, bank with Austrian shareholders.

Also, the management of SINDALIMENTA recommends to the members of the federation to avoid the purchase of products of Austrian companies, to stop refueling at OMV gas stations and to close their bank accounts held at the banks that this country has in Romania, the communique of press of the Federation.

“Austria’s decision to block Romania’s access to the Schengen Area is an unacceptable defiance towards Romania and Romanians. We’re talking about Austria, a country whose companies earn hundreds of millions of euros in Romania annually, but which has permanently refused to properly fix what it exploits here. We are talking about the OMV Petrom company, which constantly exerted pressure and behind-the-scenes games, unacceptable for a country that claims to be the champion of democracy, to not increase oil royalties. As it has been learned, he still wants to exploit Romania’s oil and gas resources for nothing”, states the quoted source.

At the same time, the mentioned source specifies that “Austrian officials are now continuing the grotesque game of simulated democracy that they have been practicing since yesterday, if we think about the unseen threads of international political-financial pettiness that are always coming together in Vienna”.

  2. Romanian mobilization seems to be at full speed and I wish you guys success and keep going. You should try again to decouple from us because my countrymen don’t match your level of determination. I will also do my part of boycott and hope more people follow as well.

  3. You know shit is coming when not every day people / keyboard warriors but institutions start doing this. I am afraid OMV just lost Romania. I simply can not see now how the Black Sea contract can be signed any more – it was due to be signed by the end of the year. If it’s not signed OMV loses the rights to exploit and the gas field can be given to others.

Then – it’s only a way down. 2008 all rights of OMV have to be renewed. Better be in Schengen by then and better pray that people forget or forgive.
