  1. LOL, what a pair of planks. Neasa is a good politician, she always comes across very well whenever I’ve seen her.

  2. The very definition of an ignorant bollix. She handled herself so well, I’d be jumping across the table.

  3. There’s people like him across every section of the public sector in management positions. More concerned with complaining about their job, ignoring emails and using the company card for lunch ‘meetings’.

  4. He really doesn’t like being put in a box does he. She cuts him off and tells him she’s speaking to the other guy and you can just hear him muttering under his breath like a petulant child

  5. Jesus, I am fully convinced that high ranking civil servants are the main reason we’re in the toilet.

From the HSE, Dept. of education, to the central bank. Incredible lack of accountability.

  6. If these are the kind of people running these programs then no wonder the Mental Health System here is in shambles, it has failed countless people and has cost lives.

  7. CEO’s of mental health services are in my experience very often set in outdated approaches and focus on conserving money, pushing efficiencies and gathering information over good mental health services. Very often low understanding or respect for mental health recovery approaches similar to addiction recovery. Often happy for people to be over medicated with no prospect of that changing

  8. What a fucking clueless gobshite. Can only read what’s the answers in front of him…and can’t even do that well.

  9. Farcical. Not fit for his position, no wonder our mental health services are so shambolic. I think he said ‘give us a fucking break’ during that too. Get him out ta fuck

  10. How in the name of God are people commenting saying they don’t think Neasa Hourigan handled herself well here, she was brilliant and those two planks need to move to a different country or at least vacate any positions of power they hold in this one

  11. Finally some asses being kicked for absolute lack of accountability. All I hear from him is typical excuses, using the same expressions and patterns. You don’t even need to know what the issue is to recognize this typical bullshit behavior in politics.

  12. Hopefully any attention drawn from this is focused towards the 19 people with severe mental illness who have had to move from their home due to failures of the HSE to meet the MHC requirements.

This woman is fiery and held the CEOs feet to the flames- very entertaining just hopefully not distracting from the main issues.

For public knowledge the Mental Health Commision is not the mental health service. It is a separate governing body which ensures that standards are met such that “approved centres” can detain people under the MHA 2001.

“The Mental Health Commission, established under the Mental Health Act 2001, is a statutory, independent body with a dual mandate – to protect the rights of detained patients and to promote, encourage and foster high standards in the delivery of mental health care.”

  13. This absolute prick needs to lose his job. The people he’s arrogantly defying are his bosses at the end of the day, and beyond that they represent the public. She’s not asking these questions for the good of her health, they’re in the public interest. Fucking joke that public servants think they can spit in the face of elected democracy like this, and it’s rampant.

  14. What a dick head. “Thanks for your comment” and “where do you think you are?” are not going to win you favour in this process. I’m really glad she shut him down.

  15. People like him are paid very well to mismanage health and mental health services while clinical staff are underpaid overworked and the situation gets worse and worse for patients.

  16. A stellar example of what happens when you try to hold anyone to account in this country. You get attitude or laughed at.

  17. My blood has turned to fucking lava.

The public sector needs a purge. The whole things is bloated and filled with people only there to avoid a real job.

Also, she’s a legend whoever she is

Genuinely, is there anything we can do?
