  1. “Even before the new amendments, the Bill will already make it illegal to inflict “serious annoyance” on a person without reasonable excuse, with up to 10 years’ jail in theory if judges choose.”

This is by far the most serious part. Which is overlooked here.

People chaining or gluing themselves to roads etc is debatable. But arresting someone for something as vague as ‘causing annoyance’… Sorry ‘serious annoyance’ now is effectively banning protests altogether.

Similar to the clause on ‘making noise’.

It makes me wonder. If the Tories blatantly break corruption rules. Then try and change the rules to allow them to continue to do this. And I want to protest that… Could I be arrested now?

  2. Funny how the usual “free speech” warriors don’t seem to be making much noise about this. Unless they have spoken out and I’ve just missed it. You would think opposing police state restrictions on protests would be right up their street.

  3. It’s to forestall any real strikes. NHS is likely to strike and sadly this is a threat to that.

  4. “Masks are tyranny”

Total silence about actually adding tyrannical laws to the statutes.

The Overton window isn’t even in sight in England anymore.

  5. Oh look, an actual example of ‘cancel culture’.
I’m sure the ‘free speech’ brigade will be here any second now… right??

  6. And here we see the real reason outrage was fostered over the insulation protestors on the motorway.

Most people I speak to are now anti protestor, even had to argue recently that it wasn’t on to run protestors over!

  7. I guess this is how you know that protests are working and getting to the government, but instead of them listening to the protesters, they’re locking them up instead. Remember guys, if you voted tory, you helped cause this

  8. Basically making sure that any peaceful protest is guaranteed to become a riot. It seems tories like to watch police get their heads kicked in by angry protesters. Just a shame so many of you scummy assholes votes for this party.

  9. Having lived my entire life in the UK, I’ve always felt sorry for countries with corrupt, authoritarian or outright evil governments.

Well, it turns out the UK is one.

  10. Christ, remember when people said leaving the EU would allow the gov to bring in authoritarian rules? And people are worried about masks, pffffft. Look at this shit.

  11. But steal a motorcycle, be recorded doing it, and film yourself riding stolen motorcycle and you walk away scot free because “he’s just a young lad” and “there just isn’t enough evidence” I was told to buy thicker chains. What a joke.

  12. There is a rally in London on the 8th of December 5-7pm outside Victoria Tower Gardens where the House of lords is gathering for the 3rd reading. Was posted on the Kill the Bill official Instagram. Don’t know about any other actions on that day across the country but reckon any number of people turning up will help, there are a lot of lord against this bill.

Edited to put the correct date…

  13. In 1962 John F. Kennedy famously said, “Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.”

  14. The number of people who have lapped up the propaganda demonising protestors using the insulate Britain guys for example is scary. Protest is what got us the vote, men and women, and has given us many of the freedoms we think we have today. The deliberate erosion of the public opinion of protest is a dangerous road.

  15. *Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable*.

  16. We should all be protesting this,

Taking our rights to protest away , while we are all trying to be responsible and not spread a killer virus is just rude.

Fuck anyone who enables this badgerlicking party.
