Friend of mine said she is lucky she can work from home as her bathroom is so cold mornings and evenings that she can’t imagine taking a shower before going to work. She tried to warm it up by running hot water until it is warm enough to get in, but she fears she will rack up her bills doing that. So she shower mid day.
wasn’t the grandparent in that film basically a work shy scrounger who suddenly get better later on?
Another nice story from “Marin”.
Good. This is how it’s supposed to be in England without the climate disaster perpetrated during the last 60 years.
It’s called Winter. We’ve known fuel prices were extortionate for MONTHS now and we’ve just had a lovely hot Summer and very mild Autumn so all that heating money saved should come in handy now.
I’m in the NE near the coast, it’s effing freezing here, my car door is frozen shut. Again, it’s bloody winter, by the whining some fkers do you’d think we live in the Bahamas. Yeah it’s not nice getting up at 5 o’clock in the morning to go to dialysis and it’s warmer in the freezer but there you go, tough titty. I’m sure those poor fkers in Ukraine are crying real tears because you can’t have your heating on 24/7 for a tenner a week anymore.
Plenty of part time jobs at this time of year, working from home she should have a few hours extra spare time. If you cant afford where you live, move, or , and here’s the big one, eat cheaper food. We are all in the same boat.
That global warming could do with hurrying up eh .
People,we’re a fuckin first world country and we’re sharing tips like it’s the 1940’s. When are we going to say enough is enough. We all work hard to be what? In poverty! Ffs,as a nation we need to do something, and soon……
Living standards have slipped backwards by decades under the Tories. While other parties would not have been perfect, the Tories have managed to see us go from needless austerity, to piss-poor Brexit negotiations, a severely mismanaged pandemic, and now a cost of living crisis in the space of twelve years. I don’t think it is a stretch to say things could get worse, especially if they win the next election.
Even if you want to criticise this person specifically, they are living a lifestyle echoed by many across the UK. When we have millions unable to afford the basics of food, shelter and fuel, you have to admit that the system is broken for the average person these days. When people with what are considered classically respectable professions, such as nurses and teachers, are afraid to put the heating on, you would have to be extraordinarily ignorant to think it is because they are all bad at managing their finances.
OMG i had a quick day dream of this very thing today!
Didn’t we have lockdowns to save the elderly?
Every time I see the temperature I think about it, I’m at the point I’d protest outside no10 or something if someone starts something. I feel like theres gotta be something to do to help.
That makes grim reading as a nation we should all be ashamed & disgusted to be in this position.
A corrupt government doing nothing for hard working people. The tories have created a new class layer … working poor.
A few elite have way more then they ever need & avoid paying tax to help the rest of society. Big business is happy to be driven by profit without regard for its workers, the community or the environment. Greed is such a destructive human condition. There’s enough money in the system for everyone to be looked after
The mechanics of how we live is very very broken. The thinking is very wrong.
We find ourselves in a very tragic place. The human race really is stupid …
Reap what you sow. We won’t fight government corruption. Instead like crabs in a bucket. We fight each other while the Tories boil the water for a seafood stew.
Insane seeing some in this thread blaming a lack of “Grit” or motivation as the problem and not directing their frustration at 12 years of corrupt Tory rule as we all suffer through a cost of greed crisis. This and many other stories like this honestly make me feel that we’ve lost the title of a first world country when so many are suffering, mostly in silence.
Unbelievable.
Find a couple of cats or dogs. You will finally be warn.
