Cost-of-living crisis: ‘In June, our electricity bill was €1,500. Now it’s over €6,000’ – family-run butcher on increasing costs that are closing small firms

  1. My local butcher closed abruptly two weeks back. It was to do with the electricity prices too. Only one butcher left in a town of 23,000+ now. Is all of this really worth it. Local businesses shutting daily, prices in everything skyrocketing. Eventually it reaches a breaking point.

  2. What was base rate increase in electricity price? It is hard to say how much was due to increased usage and how much due to price hike.
