Today is a sad day in Polish history. The only Polish man who can into space, Brigadier General Mirosław Hermaszewski, has passed away at the age of 81.

  1. Evil soviets conducted inhumane experiments by launching poles into space.

  2. Interestingly I saw a video of him yesterday and I’ve never heard of him before that. Strange coincidence.

    RIP

  3. I read “The burden of weightlessness” / Ciężar Nieważkości, his memoirs. Highly recommend. Dude was an incredible, driven badass. Also reading between the lines feels like his family had to go through a lot to support him.

  4. Funnily enough, we were the fourth nationality in the world to get to space, contrary to what Polandball would have you believe, but anyway.
