I hope to god everyone striking has their goals met, it’s intolerable the way the Tories have treated these workers over the last 12 years.
Solidarity!
Yeah, switch from the car to the train they said 😆
That is what happens when you replace private with public solutions
Why have Sky news used a picture only containing ambulances on a story about rail strikes?
I support the rail strikes. However, they are having an effect on rail-adjacent businesses that is making this incredibly frustrating. I work in a food store in a train station and we’re being forced to use our holiday entitlement for the strike days, or have them as unpaid leave.
“The RMT said the offer included a 5% and 4% pay rise over two years with thousands of job losses, a 50% cut in scheduled maintenance tasks and a 30% increase in unsocial hours.”
Half the amount of planned maintenance, unsociable working hours and no more guards on trains. Seems like a pretty good reason to be unhappy.
Add to that a 5% raise is technically a 6% pay cut with inflation.
Did they reject the pay offer or did they reject the rail companies insistance on driver-only trains?
Good to see workers standing up for what they are worth.
Cannot believe they turned this down, it ain’t going to get better.
They are just out to cause trouble!
ffs someone pay these dudes properly already, how many more strikes do they need to do to make their point?
I hate the way this is called “A pay offer” , painting it as a fight over pay alone, when most of the Issues the RMT have are with mass lay-offs, huge cuts to maintenance tasks and overtime.
After the last year, my first assumption reading these headlines has become “rejection of some stupid offer”.
I assume the new offer is along the lines of “same % increase but a tiny bonus right now because we think you’re desperate”.
Shows how dishonest they are for that assumption to be true at any rate.
Of course they did, this is class warfare and the working class are saying fuck you. No thanks buddy. Fuck you and your obscene profit while I freeze in my unaffordable house
My trains home for Christmas were cancelled due to the strikes. Having to make alternative arrangements.
Solidarity.
Just a thought for those without cars who have to suffer the most because of this action. I’m thinking back to the lady that posted here not long ago who was recovering from a miscarriage and was unable to travel to see a theatre show. It was the one thing she was looking forward to.
