I don’t really understand this part:
“He told Spotlight: “It’s their area, they control it and somebody else had walked in and done this. I was told in no uncertain terms: ‘Keep your mouth shut. This is sorted. You have to pay the £500”
Is he saying that he’s gone to the loyalist paramilitary group after being extorted by the republican one and he’s been extorted again by the loyalists?
Criminals never let a good crisis go to waste and the current cost of living crisis is rife for exploiting the vulnerable. People already living in fear and misery are easy to intimidate, you’d be naive to think that paramilitaries would operate any different to any other gang across the UK.
I can understand why they would have Customers and Control, but do they expect reasonable rates of re-payment? Criminal or not, can’t get Blood from a Stone.
Seems a poor customer Base, quite literally.
Somehow I knew which side of the political spectrum these paramilitaries were before I opened the article.
