  1. Some foam mouthed nutjob will be around shortly to explain how this isn’t a bad thing or at least much better than nuclear.

  2. Hate to say it but this where wind and solar fall on their ass.

Low wind, low amount of sunlight and very high demand.

Saying “just store energy for times like this”, imagine the amount you would need to cover for this scenario.

  3. If you select a day with barely any sun or wind, it’ll look like that, yes.

On average this year, it’s more like 25,7% wind, 11,2% solar. (+ biomass and hydro.) Overall, renewables make up ~48%. Certainly a WIP, but nowhere near as bad as this would suggest.

  4. A little bit naïve to say the least not to have nuclear. Sure build up solar and wind and have Balanced fuel provision, but completely disregarding it is/was a huge knee jerk reaction.

  5. We should turned off all coal plants instead of all the nuclear plants… but no they kinda stupid…

  6. What was the website that showed how much each eu country exported energy to the other one? The one where they showed you the data with a 2 hour delay.

  7. Germany: NUCLEAR POWER BAD

Also Germany: Reopens 7GW of Coal capacity
Also Germany: Reopens 2GW of Lignite capacity
Also Germany: Expands lifetime of existing coal plants
Also Germany: Shift+dels entire villages to dig up more coal

    Good job, Germany.

  8. Seconds before anyone says when should build batteries first before we should invest in renewables.

  9. The reality is that you still NEED coal

Not many countries can afford nuclear power (obviously germany is rich enough but i am talking in general now) , and wind/solar are simply nowhere near enough
