I really dislike the concept of tactical voting. I am aware why it exists of course, but I think voting against things rather than for things, is rather depressing, negative and undemocratic.
Would be better to just have proportional representation rather than this nonsense but of course that will never happen. Both Labour and the Conservatives benefit from the current system so much. I know Labour haven’t been in power for a while but both parties have won power in the past (and probably will next election) purely because people are fed up with the other party. If PR went through neither Labour or the Conservatives would be likely to get any more than 20% of the vote, in my opinion this is why they will never do it.
Proportional representation has got its problems, but it has to be better than this nonsense of people voting for parties they don’t agree with to keep another one out. Or basically no party ever clearing an actual majority (50%+ of the vote).
