**€0.467 per kW**

Wouldn’t surprise me if this is the most expensive in the world.

  1. Per kWh*

These are spot prices however. They change constantly. A historical chart would be more interesting.

  2. Those are spot market prices of a single day. This is only the electricity sold one day in advance, currently only about a third of the electricity that is used is sold there. Consumers don’t pay that number unless they have a dynamic contract, with additional profit margins, taxes and grid costs ofcourse.

In these cold winter days without wind and solar energy we simply don’t have enough powerplants and we become reliant on imports. While our neighbours are struggling too, the UK is struggling way harder than us. They have prices of multiple thousands of pounds per MWh. France and Germany are struggling slightly less, but only slightly only Holland is doing pretty okay.

  3. Thanks mate I needed a good laugh today. Nevermind spot prices have you taken a look at Hungary? Isn’t much cheaper and the government leans full in on relying exclusively on Russian oil and gas.

People don’t earn gross 2500 euros a month yet pay similar energy prices from sources that either will decide not to supply or becomes untenable.

With such a complexity something can be nominally cheaper yet oh so more expensive.

  4. I am sure selling the state controlled electrabel to the french private company Engie in order to improve the begroting a few years ago has nothing to do with it.. oh i forgot /s

  5. Last time i checked which was about a few days ago, UK energy prices were about 4 times as much. FYI

  6. Kinda ranting here 🙂

It truly doesn’t surprise me anymore. Belgium is a country where you get poorer and buttfucked either way.

    High salary?
    Not anymore.

    Parents died?
Give us half of your inheritance or get nothing, your choice.

5€ above the OCMW limit in a 16% inflationcrisis?
    Good luck, we aint helping.

    Ministers embezzling it’s own party?
    Swipe it under the rug.

    Decade of electricity problems?
Shut down the nuclear reactors and start up the gas powered plant!

    Gas prices lowered??
    RAISE THE ACCIJNZEN!!

    Begrotingstekort?
Let’s not lower our ministry wages until every other branch is dealt with.

Now electricity has a chance to TRIPLE in price this week. What’s the government doing?
Making a fuss about openvld who can’t even decide if a begrotingsvoorstel is good or not.

How do you expect a good and healthy economy when our own government doesn’t know half of what it’s doing. And we’re supposed to be the example.
