Need to ensure that no similar deal is done with Qatar for say 20 years to discourage such behaviour from their end. We must stand up for European values and let it be known that those who use corruption to achieve various ends will be put to the back of the metaphoric queue.

Back in 2011, it was already clear that EU’s lobbying rules lead to [corruption](https://corporateeurope.org/en/blog/cash-amendments-scandal-just-tip-iceberg).
Nothing has been done about it. Quite the contrary. Brussels is one of the main lobbying centers in the world, if not *the* biggest one.
Kaili already claimed she’s innocent, even though getting caught red-handed with stacks of cash. I fear corruption runs deep and wide within the EU. This scandal is probably just the tip of the iceberg. And Europe’s far-right is having a [ball](https://www.politico.eu/article/qatar-corruption-scandal-far-right-european-parliament/) about it.
I don’t expect anything to change.
