Stephen Collins always writes such impartial, balanced articles on Sinn Féin.
I think it is obvious they’ll have a chance to govern but it really depends if they can actually get an overall majority. Despite strong polls, actually getting an overall majority in this country is pretty difficult. Also I believe its more likely they’ll go in with FF than any smattering of left wing parties.
I’m sure the vast majority of Fianna Fáil supporters wanted a Fine Gael coalition /s
The three government parties combined are polling around 45% half way through their term, it really would be no shock if they wound up with 50% of the vote again and were re-elected. The media driven narrative that it’s SF or bust after the next election is completely false.
Love how people are acting like this is a hit peice against SF.
The fact of the matter is if FG/FF put up a wall then SF is going to have an impossible task of froming a government with parties with sub 10 seats each.
He’s a FG HQ man embedded in the media, a terrible writer and a most uninteresting pundit who wears Blueshirt pyjamas.
Sinn Féin have an uphill battle. Sinn Féin have always been quite an insular party.
This has only started to change with explosion in support in recent years.
So the thought is who is going to side with Sinn Féin to form a coalition, no other major party have been enthusiastic about this being an option.
Getting an overall majority send unlikely for any party.
