  1. > Bazanau, an ally of Lukashenka, is on a sanctions list of the EU’s Baltic member states — Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Unlike Cyprus, where Bazanau and his wife had visited the day before, the Czech Republic enforces the Baltic states’ sanctions.

    > The Hungarian Foreign Ministry told RFE/RL on December 7 that it issued Bazanau a 90-day Schengen visa, and that the Belarusian had an invitation from UEFA, European soccer’s governing body.

  2. He was deported from Czechistan for violating Covid rules? That’s pretty stupid. If that were a real reason to deport people, EU borders would not be able to keep up with the scale of deportations.

The Baltic sanctions are pretty stupid too. “How can we anger our neighbors without in any way motivating them to change the things we would like them to change? I know, travel restrictions on a few of their officials!” High fives all around.

  3. As a Hungarian, I’m deeply ashamed of our authoritarian government and people’s general attitude of not standing up for democratic values.
