Kwasi Kwarteng admits he and Truss ‘blew it’ and got ‘carried away’ with economic reforms

  1. Why the fuck is he relevant now?

Oh yeah, this bell-end was responsible for the Pound tanking. But other than losing their jobs, absolutely zero repercussions for both of them. Both will be happy to with 100K/year money of taxpayers’ involuntary contribution just because they warmed the seat.

  2. The language that he is using gives the impression that they were not taking their responsibilities seriously. I mean, you get “carried away” with a birthday party, not the formulation of economic policy in the most challenging period in living memory.

How our centuries old democratic system allowed amateurs like this anywhere near our great offices of state is beyond me.

  3. Permanent damage to the U.K. reputation for sensible government.
An increase in U.K. borrowing costs as the lending agencies downgraded the U.K.
About £60bn pissed away supporting government bond prices.
    Pension funds hours from collapse.

    All completely avoidable. Great work.

  4. It’s almost as if his only qualification for the post was having previously shagged Liz Truss.

  5. And what do you want? A gold fucking star for doing what you were told would pour fuel on a already burning shit show of a UK government, making everything even crapper. Your not a child learning to use the toilet for the first time, it was clear what would happen. Go back under the rock you and Truss have been hiding under and take your place on the long list of Tory fuck ups future generations will study, or in the Tory party case, the play book.

  6. This fucking asshole still can’t admit their policies were bad, only their “tactics” about how they were carried out. Incredible these two imbeciles can cause lasting damage to a country, the fallout of which will certainly involve people dying, and walk away with zero consequences.

  7. I think the term is they were idiots.. All the indicators were this is was a disaster in the making yet they refused to listen and yield to their own stupidity and big headedness.

  8. What they did was fucking criminally negligent. Not “getting carried away”.

They purposely called it a “min-budget” to avoid scrutiny which at a glance would have torpedoed their idiotic ideas and stopped the colossal damage they did in a matter of days.

There was absolutely no need for it and to call it something as trivial as getting carried away is an outrage.

  9. “Carried away” what kind of fucking stupid explanation is that? This is not some random couple running their own business, that got carried away that can say “whoops, we got carried away with our decisions and we’ve killed our business, whelp, sorry!”. They were responsible for the entire country. What the actual fuck!? Why there was nobody there to stop them?! What happened to all advisors and other people in their team? If those decisions were stupid and they got “carried away” why nobody stopped them?! Jesus fuck.

  10. They knew exactly what they were doing, They caused a run on the pound so they and their mates could short it.

  11. We understand. You’re a moron.

As are the tory MP’s who put forward Truss as a candidate, and the members who voted for her.

Best thing to do would be ritual seppuku, failing that just be quiet, as quiet as the proverbial church mouse lest we remember your name.

Fame! I’m going to hang from a lamppost, hopefully whilst their aflame, Fame!

  12. The guy was Energy Minister who did nothing to face challenges energy market was in and all of a sudden became finance minister. Difficult to comprehend how they assign these important jobs..

  13. How does it help the hole they created?

How does this help the current PM, Cabinet and crisis they successfully caused, contributing to the upcoming strikes?

    Poop talk
With no shame of receiving an income, they both don’t deserve.

Should donate to the Food Banks

  14. Why are these not in jail?

if keir starmer wants to bring trust to politics, then politicians need to be held legally responsible for their decisions.

  15. And so the altering of history starts, they were not economic “reforms” they were regressions. They fucked it on purpose for profit.

  16. Spoken like a regular communist- it’s not that the ideas were bad, he still think it was all correct, despite crashing the economy. No it was just the tactics he got wrong. Fantastic, fucked everything up, still learned nothing.

  17. Expected the standard comments in this thread about how they are criminals and should be in jail or whatever. But I think they did identify something really problematic in the UK i.e. low growth. And that really hurts the poorest. I think they had good intentions and am not going to accuse them of malice.

  18. He blew it yeah – he blew a couple of g’s into his nose before coming up with such a stupid plan.
