Six police officers lose jobs for being part of offensive WhatsApp group

  1. Every one should be held to the same high standard.

There should be no expected higher standard based on job.

All history should be pored over examined and dealt with accordingly.

  2. Losing their jobs seems appropriate due to what their job is. Going to prison or receiving any sort legal punishment is where the line should be drawn though.

  3. WhatsApp scares me. I always detested the day it went from a work free zone to work groups being formed and people feeling like that had to respond to their employers and colleagues on there. For the record I don’t condone what these officers did, but from personal experience I know thaylt someone could post something I found absolutely offensive, but due to the social “disrespect” it would cause I felt leaving the group would cause too much hassle.

Again I’m not minimising this case, just thinking out loud about the people who get tarred with the same brush simply for being in such a group

  4. From this i feel people who just want to be cruel and savage all their life use the police force as agency to carry this out in a way that protects and justifies them and even makes the whole thing too ironic to consider.
These people need a severe psychological background check and mental evaluation which is less non verbal where they can easily lie about details and more like a lie detector test assessing degrees of racism , homophobia etc .

  5. Losing their jobs – Fine, that’s fair enough.

But jailing for sending offensive messages? I hate to defend these cunts, but you should be able to say anything you want in private to your mates, no matter how reprehensible.

  6. So under precedent. You are required to get the police involved and see your friends in jail the second anything bad occurs.

This is weird. They’re bad. But jail? You see something in the chat and go to jail for not reporting it?
