>Before the Monday deal, EU governments had decided to discuss the four separate issues as a package because it was the only way to make sure Hungary would approve the financing for Ukraine and the global tax – two issues it had held hostage to extract financial concessions from the EU, diplomats said.
>
>EU diplomats speculate now that Warsaw, having seen that Hungary’s tactics had been successful, may be holding the whole package hostage again to get a clear commitment from the rest of the 27-nation bloc that Poland would get billions in EU recovery funds now blocked by a rule of law dispute with Brussels.
Learn from the cunts – become one yourself…honestly who cares about Ukraine anyway (…/s)
> Poland was on Thursday holding up the European Union’s formal adoption of a minimum corporate tax for large companies which, as part of a whole package of deals, also holds up financing for Ukraine, diplomats said.
Why exactly is it voted as a single package? That’s simple scapegoating as Poland will not agree to 15% tax and Ukraine aid is simply there as a bashing argument.
Why won’t we vote on it in the same package as new sanctions on Russia? I wonder how the votes would look then…
But for real, why are unrelated things bundled like that? PiS likes to do that at home sometimes but i expected more from EU.
Aid to Ukraine is linked to the minimum corporate tax rate in the EU, because of course it is.
Whoever in Brussles linked the EU aid to Ukraine with the minimum rate of the corporate tax in the EU should resign. But these twerps never resign, that’s the problem.
Sounds like EU is the one holding up the aid by bundling it with the corporate tax changes that only benefit the richest countries.
Poland said half year ago when France split part 1 and 2 and proceded only 15% tax part of corporate tax, that they wont support only one part without other. Now they put it with Ukraine support to push it throught.
>minimum rate of tax on corporate income internationally agreed upon and accepted by individual jurisdictions
part 2:
>Each country would be eligible to a share of revenue generated by the tax.
Good. Maybe it will push France and Germany to help more with military gear. There are 200.000 russian soldiers training in Belarus. I’m pretty sure they will try another push for Kyiv. Ukraine needs help. Now.
Aren’t like a handful of American corporations owners of all the European liberal/antichristian media machine? Isn’t the extreme material and economic abundance the main reason for people being indifferent and leaving the faith life? So why would the Polish conservative government be reluctant about the minimum corporate tax? Very odd policy…
Finally, it’s not us in the headline!
Seems to be quite the shitshow.
Sure binding such different things together looks weird, but then again Poland agreed already to the corporate tax….. So maybe they want to make a point about the “shitty machinations within the EU”?
